My Pre-Apprenticeship Journey by Kamryn Hobbs

Through my experience at My Father’s Mustache, I’ve had the opportunity to earn my pre-apprenticeship certification through a partnership with the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.

This experience has been an exciting opportunity to take what I’m learning in cosmetology and apply it in a real salon environment. Being able to work alongside experienced professionals has allowed me to see what it’s really like to work in the beauty industry while developing important skills, building confidence, and learning more about the many different aspects of working in a salon.

Throughout my pre-apprenticeship, I’ve gained valuable hands-on experience while learning about professionalism, client care, teamwork, salon operations, and the importance of creating a welcoming experience for every guest. I’ve also been able to learn directly from professionals who have experience in the industry and who have helped encourage me along the way.

Earning my certification is an important milestone in my journey, but it’s also just the beginning. This experience has given me a stronger foundation and a better understanding of what I want for my future in cosmetology.

I’m incredibly grateful to My Father’s Mustache and the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development for helping provide this opportunity. I’m excited to continue learning, growing, and gaining experience as I work toward my future career in the cosmetology industry!
